BitMEX Founder Arthur Hayes Invests in Longevity Research Amid Crypto Ventures
Arthur Hayes, co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX, has pivoted from legal battles to longevity research, investing heavily in a stem cell therapy company. The clinic, operating in Mexico and Bangkok, offers treatments Hayes claims are key to extending human lifespan. "I want to live as long as possible, as healthy as possible," he told Bloomberg, joining the firm's board during its rebranding phase.
Hayes' focus on longevity follows a 2020 indictment for Bank Secrecy Act violations alongside BitMEX co-founders Benjamin Delo and Samuel Reed. After pleading guilty and paying $10 million fines in 2022, the trio received a presidential pardon this March—a development Hayes says hasn't altered his Singapore-based lifestyle or frequent ski trips to Japan.
The crypto pioneer continues publishing widely-read market commentaries like "Dust on Crust," blending financial analysis with meme culture. His latest venture underscores a pattern of high-risk bets, from digital assets to biomedical frontiers.
